Blyth Town 2-4 Garforth Town

Blyth Town 2-4 Garforth Town

Miners end on a high, as Blyth are relegated

A dramatic final day full of twists and turns ended with relegation for Blyth Town.
Blyth needed a win and to hope that Bishop Auckland and Ossett United would falter in their respective matches, but those hopes were soon dashed when Owen Marshall scored for Garforth after just two minutes.
Cameron Gascoigne restored parity (and hopes) to keep it level at half time.

Those hopes were raised when Ossett and Auckland both fell behind in the second half, but Garforth subs Luke Aldrich and Daniel Ramsden netted late on to quash a miracle escape.

Adam Johnsons’ added time goal made it briefly interesting, before Steven Jeff compounded Blyths’ fate with a goal just before the final whistle.

It was fitting end to another satisfactory season for Garforth, who finished just one point behind last seasons tally of fifty nine.

Two comfortable seasons, with home and away attendances on the rise and club infrastucture improving massively is something to celebrate before the hard work soon begins again.
