The Miners suffered an early setback in the first minute when Jordan Emery was forced off with a hamstring injury, Dexter Ball replacing him.
It was a game full of endeavour from both sides but with few clear-cut chances. A Charlie Marshall shot went well wide from Max Tweddle's cross, then Jake Day's effort for Bridlington went just beyond the far post after Michael Coulson's foray in from the right. Teammate Will Annan then blazed over the bar after ex-Town midfielder Casey Stewart's delivery was headed down to him. Coulson came the closest for either side to opening the scoring two minutes before half time, his low shot from Stewart's cross rebounding off the near post.
The game remained evenly poised beyond the hour-mark with both keepers yet to be tested. A controversially awarded free-kick from a dangerous position ended in Coulson's effort going just over the crossbar. Town had struggled so far to penetrate what seemed like a packed penalty area, but the game was to turn in our favour on 67 mins when Luke Aldrich's shot took a wicked deflection and looped over Seasiders keeper Jonathan Dash to give us the lead. A third goal of the season for the striker.
