Garforth have been draw away to Shildon in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup. This is the fourth year in a row we've been drawn away in this round, and the seventh consecutive season against Northern League opposition. The tie will take place on Saturday 10th August, kick-off 3pm. Should we return down the A1 with a win, we'd host Evo-Stik League North West Division side Colne in the Preliminary Round.
Another Northern League opponent features in the draw for the FA Vase. Rob Hunter's side will head to Chester-le-Street Town in the First Qualifying Round on Saturday 31st August (kick-off 3pm). The winners of the tie between Sunderland Ryhope CW and North Shields would visit the Bannister Prentice Stadium in the Second Round Qualifying should we progress.
Its fair to say Town have unfinished business against both sides who in recent years have dumped us out of the FA Cup; Chester-le-Street back in 2016 and Shildon in 2013. Difficult draws in both competitions, but victories last season at stablemates Northallerton Town and Ryton show it can be done.
Meanwhile in the FA Youth Cup, there's a tasty looking local derby for the Young Miners who've been drawn Farsley Celtic in the Preliminary Round. The tie is due to be played in the week commencing Monday 2nd September (exact date tbc). Cleethorpes Town or Guiseley AFC await the winners of that one.
Up the Miners!
