"Ella Cup" a roaring success

"Ella Cup" a roaring success

Jonathan McGourty14 Jul - 17:34

Garforth Supporters and Howden put on a show in front of a crowd of 842

A match between Garforth supporters and legends vs a Howdens Joinery team was the highlight of an afternoon of fundraising for Ella Lynch, organised by Sam Whitley. With help from many others, the day was a huge success.

One of the old 5 a side courts was transformed into a terrace, with bbq, live music stage and beer tent.
Leeds United announcer Leigh Nicholson hosted proceedings and guest Josh Warrington took to the pitch to give a speech and auction some of his signed memorabilia.

There were other great prizes up for grabs, a current signed Leeds shirt, an Evander Holyfield Glove, hotel stays and more.

The game ended 3-3, with Garforth then winning on penalties, but the score was irrelevant, as everyone enjoyed an incredible afternoon.

Sam shared this message she received today...
Allison, Gordon, Ella and family have asked me to share the following ❤️
"You never expect something to happen to your family like this, but you then don't expect the support and love we have recieved, it is so overwhelming. We can't say thank you enough times to everyone who helped to make yesterday such an amazing day for Ella.

Thank you to Sam and Andy and to all the people who worked so hard on the stalls, bar, cooking, stitch, selling raffle tickets, and working on the gate. The memories that were made yesterday will stay with us forever.

Thank you to Howdens, who have supported us so much, to everyone who put a pair of boots on and ran around in that heat like you all did. Thank you.

To everyone who came along to support the day, there were so many amazing people there in numbers we never imagined. Ella is so lucky to have you all supporting her through this. She is a strong young girl and is giving it all she has.
Thank you all so much from Ella and the Lynch family. Xx".
