Another Saturday, another fortress as we go up against 6th place Maltby. Along with our last opponents Penistone, Main can also boast an impressive home record, having not been beaten at Muglet Lane since 19th August. Late November saw two defeats on the road for Mark Askwith and Scott Mason's team, but they've since recovered with a league win over Albion Sports and an 8-0 demolition of Grimethorpe in the County Cup.
Town go into this game looking for a first win in six so will not be favourites, however we can look to our last visit here for inspiration. A 'Simmo' hattrick plus goals from Luke McCrum and Jack McMurrough secured a 5-1 success on 7th January. The two sides shared a 1-1 draw on Cedar Ridge in the last meeting between the two sides earlier this season, Calum Ward on target.
Manager Rob Hunter will be forced into a reshuffle by the absence of Lee Turner (injured), Ryan Donoghue and Aiden Kearsley (work commitments) and Jack McMurrough (away). However, defender Josh Dacre is expected to return from injury and goalkeeper Peter Lawrie will be back after serving a one-match ban for his red card against Harrogate Railway. Ross Shelton is also expected to feature as he continues on the road to full fitness.
