Garforth had the better of a first half admittedly low on clear-cut-chances. Beverley's McCauley Snelgrove shot straight at Harry Flatters when played in by Elliott Smith on 5 mins, but three minutes later we snatched the lead. Harry Colville won the ball back in the box and supplied Luke Aldrich who slotted home for his second in as many games.
On 16 mins Smith almost profitted from a Flatters error but luckily captain Jamie Barkway was there to clear the danger.
On 35 mins Charlie Marshall saw a low strike saved by Beavers keeper Leigh Overton at the near post after he did well to keep a long ball in play. Aldrich also saw an effort saved moments later from Olli Patrick's delivery.
The visitors almost equalised on the stroke of half time with Flatters making a good stop on the edge of the box to deny Harry Lovick when played in from the right.
Sadly it was a narrow lead that Paul Marshall's side rarely looked like increasing in the second half. A Town looking short of ideas huffed and puffed against their rejuvenated opponents who were level on fifty mins. A deep cross was cleared straight to Lovick just outside the box who scored with an unstoppable volley.
Flatters made a great save to keep out Jack Watson's effort soon after, then the midfielder saw a shot blocked after beating a man to earn a corner. Another chance came on 61 mins when his curling strike went just wide.
The introduction of James Burgess and Matthew Savage briefly stemmed the tide, but without creating any serious chances. Flatters kept the scores level twice with a save at the near post from sub Luka Suluburic, and then from Smith with the resulting loose ball cleared.
In the end it was former Garforth centre-back Matthew Plummer who grabbed the winner for the East Yorkshiremen four minutes from time, heading in at the far post Lovick's corner-kick.
Smith almost made it three after a quick one-two with Suluburic, but blazed over the bar. A rare Garforth chance arrived in injury time when an Aldrich effort was saved at the near post from sub Mutty Al-Jahadhmy's foray down the left.
A disappointing evening for Paul Marshall's side who fall short once again on home soil. With no game this weekend due to Guisborough Town's involvement in the FA Trophy, they have a week off from their busy calendar before we make the journey north to Ashington for our next game on Tuesday 15th (kick-off 7:45pm).
