Garforth's pre-season got off to a winning start as goals from Aldrich, Emery and Witter saw them to a comfortable victory over newly-promoted NPL Premier Division neighbours Emley.
Despite the hot weather limiting chances, the Miners played sharply. Luke Aldrich opened scoring in the 6th minute after a determined run by a trialist set him up to stroke home into the bottom corner. Joe Clegg appeared to equalize for Emley six minutes later but was ruled offside.
Jordan Emery doubled the lead on 30 minutes, heading in Max Tweddle's delivery at the far post following Joe Allerton's recycled corner kick. Duke Witter had an opportunity to extend the lead before halftime but his solo attempt was saved by Ben Bottomley.
Emley had some chances before the break without testing goalkeeper Harry Flatters. Rinor Ejupi's low shot was straightforward for the Town custodian, and Joe Stacey's free-kick attempt hit the wall.
Emley introduced Gabriel Johnson at halftime, described as having an Erling Haaland/Henrik Larsson-like presence, and he created some danger. Mutty Al-Jahadhmy had a promising opportunity for Garforth on 50 minutes but his dinked finish missed the target.
Al-Jahadhmy's work down the left provided another chance that went wide. Witter secured the final goal seconds before the whistle, finishing after being played in by Al-Jahadhmy for a 3-0 result.
Manager Paul Marshall's squad will face West Didsbury & Chorlton in the FA Cup within three weeks. Their next match is Friday against Knaresborough Town (7:30pm kickoff).
