Ten man Ashington recorded a huge away win in their bid to beat the drop
It was an emotional afternoon at the Bannister Prentice Stadium, as a minutes’ applause rang out before kick off, for well loved local junior footballer Ella Lynch, who passed away on this week.

Ryan Wombwell scored the winning goal on fifty five minutes and, even when Christopher Reid was sent off ten minutes later and with an additional nine minutes added at the end Garforth couldn’t fashion an equaliser against a resolute Ashington rearguard.

The result sees Ashington climb two places out of the relegation zone, while Garforth remain in seventh place on goal difference.
