The Miners return to league action with a tough test on Saturday, as Dunston UTS make the trip to the Bannister Prentice Stadium.

Following a narrow exit out of the County Cup in midweek, Garforth have the opportunity to bounce back against Dunston UTS. Only five points separate the sides ahead of what should be a challenging tie for Town.

The visitors sit 5th in the NPL East table, occupying the last play-off spot in the division and currently are seven matches unbeaten in the league. Tipped to be one of the favourites for the title, Dunston comfortably beat Carlton Town 2-0 in their last match as club top scorer Scott Robson bagged a brace to guarantee another three points.

Their goalscoring seems to be free flowing at the moment as they are the second highest scorers in the division, only narrowly trailing behind league leaders Cleethorpes Town. Talking after the Carlton match, manager Jon McDonald highlighted the new attacking partnership between Robson and recent signing JJ O'Donnell by stating "there's already chemistry there", as the latter set up Robson's first goal of the evening.

Furthermore, both players managed to net hat tricks in a 6-1 hammering of Consett AFC earlier this month, demonstrating that the experienced pair should prove difficult to handle this weekend.

Returning to the Miners, speaking ahead of the test on Saturday manager Paul Marshall said: "Obviously they are a good team; we want to give a good showing against everybody we play. If you play well on the day you can win, if you don't play so well you'll get beat and hopefully we'll play well on Saturday and give them a scare."

After a lengthy spell out injured with a broken arm, Sam Barker featured in the dramatic cup exit v Pontefract midweek whilst slotting away a great finish to mark his return. The club is grateful that such a talent is available for selection again and should feature Saturday in some capacity. Furthermore, new signing Nash Connolly has transferred back to Town from Silsden and with the gaffer "delighted to get him back", Connolly definitely can be a danger down the right-hand side in his second spell at the club.

A challenging affair no doubt awaits, nevertheless the Miners are capable of an upset and a win would surely be a statement to the rest of the division.

We're continuing our appeal for donations of new toys, no matter how big or small (from colouring books and puzzles, to dolls, board games, headphones, make-up sets etc...).
These will then be donated to local families in need, and a childrens hopice and hospital.

The Tudor Sales and Lettings clubhouse bar will be open from 1pm, serving an excellent array of cold drinks, and local beers from Kirkstall Brewery.

Ralphs Kiosk snack bar will have all the usual selection of hot and cold food and drinks.
Our pitchside bar will also be in operation, and this Saturday they'll be serving up mulled wine and Baileys hot chocolate.

The match day programme is £2 and available in the bar or on the gate.

The nearest bus stop is on Aberford Road (stop is named Aberford Road, Brierlands Close) and is serviced by the Arriva 164 bus.
Garforth Railway Station is a mile from the club, there is also a taxi office at the train station.
As always, there'll be limited parking at the ground and a steward will direct you as you turn on to Cedar Ridge.
