Garforth were made to work for their win at Ilkley.
The Miners raced to an early lead through Sam Barker and extended it when Matt Antcliff added to his prolific pre-season tally.
Ilkley scored twice to send the teams in level at half time.
Antcliff scored again after the break and it was enough to earn the win.
On Tuesday Garforth play their first game at the Bannister Prentice Stadium since last season, when they entertain Ossett United. Kick off is 7.45pm.
