Last season's top scorer Mark Simpson has returned to the club after joining Evo-Stik League side Frickley Athletic back in May. After failing to break into the first eleven, the striker was snapped up by NCEL Premier Division promotion chasers Worksop Town last month, and featured against the Miners as substitute in our 3-2 win last week. Despite grabbing three goals for The Tigers, his last few appearances have been off the bench and manager Rob Hunter has managed to persuade him to return to Garforth.

The news came as a complete surprise to his biggest fan "Philippo" Briggs (pictured, left), who was unaware of his return when he arrived at the ground to sign forms on Saturday morning.

Mark will of course have competition up front this season in the form of summer signings Calum Ward and Jamie Reeson, but Rob Hunter will have had worse problems in his managerial career. "Simmo" went straight into the side as sub last weekend, although won't feature in this Saturday's FA Vase game as he's cup-tied.

Welcome back Mark, and let's hope this spell is as prolific as the last one!
