Following a couple of weeks of training, Garforth's pre-season gets underway this Saturday with the visit of a familiar opponent — Emley AFC.

The match is being referred to by some supporters as the "Rinor derby," marking the first meeting between the sides since a right-sided defender/midfielder switched clubs this summer.

Emley AFC achieved their second promotion in three seasons, arriving in the NPL alongside Garforth in the 24/25 season. Manager Paul Marshall has retained most of his squad while strengthening the defence. Centre back Niall Tilsley joins from North Ferriby, where he captained over 200 games and reunites with Marshall from their time at Pickering. Local player Jack Johnson, also from North Ferriby, joins as a defender capable of playing either flank.

Trialists have been training with the squad and some are expected to feature in this opening pre-season fixture.

Kick-off is 3pm Saturday at the Bannister Prentice Stadium. Admission: Adults £10, Concessions £7, U16s £3, U3s Free, Family ticket (2 adults, 2 U16s) £23.

The Tudor Sales and Lettings bar opens from 1pm with local beers and ales. The snack bar serves hot and cold refreshments, and the Bar-forth pitch-side bar operates in the fanzone. Both cash and card payments accepted.
