Nash Connollys' 98th minute goal earned Garforth a point, just as Matlock looked to have sealed and incredible comeback at the Proctor Cars Stadium.
The Miners got a dream start through a seventeenth minute Max Tweddle goal, but when Charlie Marshall was red carded soon after, it looked like it was going to have to be a backs to the wall performance.
Rinor Ejupi scored on the stroke of half time to give Garforth what seemed to be a vital cushion, and it was, until Montel Gibson scored on eighty three minutes to spark a gladatorial comeback.
Diego De Girolamo struck just four minutes later, followed by another Gibson goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time, causing mass celebrations by the home contingent.
These were short-lived though, as substitute Connolly provided a final twist to this epic encounter.
Garforth are next in action on Saturday, at home to Ashington in the FA Trophy.
