Next match - home to Hallam (09/08)

NPL Season starts with a home game at the Bannister Prentice Stadium this Saturday

The new Pitching In Northern Premier League East season gets underway on Saturday and Garforth start with a home game against newly promoted Hallam.

This fixture was initially sheduled to be played at Hallam, but because of a clash with the cricket season, the two meetings between the sides this season have been reversed.

Just like the Miners two seasons ago, the Countrymen earned promotion from the NCEL via the playoffs (beating Beverley in the 24/25 playoff final at Sandygate).

The last meeting between the sides was in Towns' promotion season and resulted in a 2-0 win for Garforth (Charlie Marshall and Dan Coupland the scorers in Sheffield).
The last meeting at the Bannister Prentice Stadium was on the opening day of that campaign and ended in a 1-3 Garforth defeat.

The teams had contasting results in the FA Cup last weekend. While Garforth were knocked out by a late goal against West Auckland Town, Hallam made progress via a 3-1 win over Lower Breck.
Hopefully Paul Marshalls side will be boosted by the return of a number of absentees for this game.
