Match preview by Ben Frank
Garforth are set to return to league football this weekend following last week’s postponement away to Thackley, with the Miners welcoming Handsworth to the Bannister Prentice Stadium.
Garforth came out on top last time around with a 3-2 victory back in September. Sam Barker, who has been in fine goalscoring form, will be hoping to net once again having scored the 88th minute winner to secure all three points in the away tie.
Handsworth approach this fixture with just one win in their last 10 league matches, leaving the side 12th in a very tight midtable. The side have played 26 matches so far this season, the most in the league.
Another win on Saturday could see Garforth climb up as high as 3rd in the table, as Paul Marshall’s men look to keep up the pressure on 2nd place sitting Winterton Rovers in the automatic promotion spots.
Town’s last run out resulted in a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to runaway league leaders North Ferriby, amidst a dip in form to start off the year. The team will be looking to set things right going into their fourth match of 2023.
The bar and snack bar will be open as usual, serving hot and cold refreshments.
