With only four home matches left to play this season at the Bannister Prentice Stadium, the Miners await a visit from fellow West Yorkshire side Emley AFC. Both teams have flourished in the NPL East Division since achieving promotion from the NCEL Premier last year, setting up what should be another fierce and frantic fixture.
Back in November, goals from Dan Coupland and Rinor Ejupi sealed an incredible 2-0 upset against the currently second-placed Pewits - especially considering the encounter marked Town's first win from nine games against Saturday's opponents.
However, Emley have excellently maintained their position close to the top of the table throughout the campaign. Sitting seven points behind league leaders Cleethorpes Town, the NPL East title may be beyond their grasp but the Pewits certainly seem the favourites to claim back-to-back promotions via the playoffs.
Despite that, a recent run of one win from their last five matches in all competitions could be seen as a blip for Garforth to capitalise on. Prior to that, Emley were on a winning streak of six which likely has cemented a coveted playoff spot for the Huddersfield-based side.
The visitors last played midweek against NPL Premier outfit Worksop Town in the semi-final of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Cup, bowing out with a 2-0 defeat. Speaking after the exit ahead of Saturday, manager Richard Tracey felt "Garforth were deserved winners" in the encounter between the teams back in November.
Tracey was fully behind his squad after Tuesday's match however, stating that "clearly we are a match for any team," referencing how Emley went toe-to-toe with Worksop (who are currently second in a division above) for much of the game.
An unwavering backline has been the basis of success this season for the Pewits; a mere 22 goals conceded in 33 matches along with 20 clean sheets has demonstrated a defensive solidity unmatched by anyone else in the table. The contrasting centre back pairing of the vastly experienced Adam Clayton with promising young talent Charlie Barks seems to have flourished and will provide a challenge for the Town frontline if both feature.
In the midst of a hugely difficult run of fixtures, Saturday will mark the Miners fourth game on the spin against opposition in the top five places of the division. Three consecutive defeats may appear disappointing for Paul Marshall's squad, yet Garforth's performances have been far from poor in the face of some of the league's best.
The knowledge that Town are capable of beating the Pewits should boost confidence in the home camp. No new injury concerns have arisen for the Miners, meaning a similar squad to last week's 2-0 defeat to Newton Aycliffe will likely feature.
A local derby always has the potential to flare up, but with the added drama and edge of a late-season clash, it should be a thrilling affair at the Bannister Prentice Stadium
Kick off is at 3pm
