Garforth came from behind to win impressively at Brighouse Town in their opening Yorkshire Trophy fixture.
A few regulars were unavailable, but Toby Wells, Rinor Ejupi. Charlie Marshall, Jamie Barkway, James Burgess, Hass Gorji and Lee Turner were joined by former Garforth player (and non-league legend) Mick Jones, along with a number of trialists.
A big shock to some Miners fans was seeing one of their favourites (Helmo Silva) donning the orange of Brighouse as a trialist.
The home side started stronger and Elliot Harrison gave them a deserved lead on 19 minutes.
The closest Garforth came in the opening exchanges was when a Rinor Ejupi shot cannoned back off the foot of the post.
Town equalised on 43 minutes when Harrison Beeden prodded a dangerous cross past his own keeper following a good spell of pressure from the Miners.
Early in the second half Garforth rode their luck a little when a curled free-kick beat Wells, but struck the crossbar.
As the half wore on, both sides had chances, although Garforth had the majority.
They took the lead with a typical turn and shot in the box by James Burgess.
Home keeper Jamie Hassall made a great penalty save to deny Town a third.
Next match - home to Horbury Town on Tuesday 12th July, 7.30pm kick-off
