A big Garforth welcome goes to Fergus McAughtrie and Max Tweddle. Fergus is a 20-year old left-sided midfield player and formerly of the Leeds United and Sunderland academy teams. More recently he played at York City and Pickering Town.

Also 20, Max is a central midfielder/left winger who joins us from Harrogate Town under 19s. Has previously played at Goole AFC, Tadcaster Albion and York City academy.

Photos of both hopefully to follow!

Goalkeeper Toby Wells has signed for a third season at the Bannister Prentice Stadium. Nicknamed “Superman” for some outstanding displays between the sticks and winner of the Player of the season award for 2018-19.

Another player joining for a third season is Dan Coupland. A regular performer last season and 2017-18 in central midfield or centre-back, Dan adds a calm presence and chips in with the odd (and often crucial!) goal.

Jack Lazenby has also signed on for another season. After playing at fullback or central defender in 2017-18 campaign, he returned in December last year and impressed in a midfield role with an eye for goal (and stunning ones in the case of Goole away!). Previously with Guiseley, Harrogate Railway and Brighouse Town.

Central defender Sam Denton has also re-signed. The Kippax based defender, who celebrated his 34th birthday yesterday joined us last October and did much to shore up the defence after the departure of previous manager Rob Hunter. Previously with Albion Sports, Scarborough Athletic and Farsley Celtic among others.

In addition to captain James Beaston who left to join our neighbours Yorkshire Amateur, Sam Barker has moved to Northern Premier League side Gainsborough Trinity. The talented young playmaker joined us back in February last year and went on to become one of the star performers of last season. Altogether he made 46 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals. Best wishes for the future Sam!
