Tonight - Garforth Town v Bishop Auckland

Jonathan McGourty22 Oct 2024 - 09:40

Miners looking to keep their form going. Match preview by Robert Osborne.

After back-to-back victories, the Miners return to the Bannister Prentice Stadium to play the Bishops.

A promising uptick of form sees Town up to 10th in the table, and Paul Marshall’s side will look to continue their winning ways back on home soil.

Tuesday’s opponents currently sit 17th of the NPL East with 13 points in as many games. After a poor start to their season, the visitors have managed to claim 8 points from their last 4 league matches; including a 3-0 victory against Ossett United last Saturday.

Similarly to Town, Bishop Auckland achieved promotion to the NPL East last season. An astonishing achievement of 100 points helped them claim the Northern Division 1 title in some style.

Goalkeeper Ryan Catterick was a standout for the side in that campaign; managing to keep 21 clean sheets in all competitions, whilst striker Louis Johnson has managed to net 21 goals in consecutive seasons in league competition (with an additional four goals scored in this current season).

Back to Garforth, as both Joe Smith and James Burgess, who were signed last week on a dual registration with Barton Town, may be drafted into the squad on Tuesday. Despite no injury concerns ahead of the match, the current fixture congestion may force Paul Marshall to rotate his side to manage the team’s fitness.

Kick-off at the Bannister Prentice Stadium is 7.45pm.
