Manager Paul Marshall made one change from midweek; Liam Woods replacing Sam Denton who took a knock in that game and was named as a substitute.
Visitors Bottesford started the game the better side, with Wells claiming a low shot from Joe Simpson after a cross from a short corner was only half-cleared, then Jonathan Nyantoli beat Liam Woods to a ball forward but could only shoot wide of the near post.
Despite the slow start, The Miners earned themselves a penalty on 6 mins when Nick Thompson was tripped in the box by Ryan King. Dan Coupland duly sent Poachers' keeper Jordan Quibell the wrong way to give us the lead. Four minutes later our lead was doubled. Sam Barker made his way down the right and his cross was deflected to Charlie Marshall who had space to steer the ball into the far corner of the net. Along with 'Captain Coops' it was the midfielder's first goal since the win at Yorkshire Amateur back in February.
Wells had to be alert soon after to palm wide a cross-cum-shot from Nyantoli, then down the other end Thompson saw his shot blocked after great work by Rinor Ejupi. Town were forced into a change with just under half an hour gone when Coupland suffered a back injury and was replaced by Callum Brown.
Just before half time the points were surely sealed - Matt Antcliff making a run down the right and finishing well across Quibell. A richly-deserved goal for the midfielder after being unlucky not to hit the target in the last couple of games, and his first since returning from injury in late February. More good work from Ejupi moments later sadly couldn't be finished off when teammate Marshall shot straight at Quibell.
Fullback Sam Leach was denied a rare goal early in the second half; his shot blocked after Barker profited from a defensive error on the left wing and delivered the ball to the edge of the box. There followed a good spell of possession for Bottesford who hadn't thrown the towel in, although their only real chance saw Mason Ellender fire well over the bar after a dangerous foray through the middle.
Town had soaked up the pressure, and hit the visitors with a fourth on 57 mins. Ejupi made a run down the left and supplied Antcliff to grab his second of the afternoon with a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.
On 70 mins Bottesford were awarded a penalty after two coming-togethers of players in quick succession. Wells looked to have been fouled when attempting to claim a ball into the box, but from the loose ball substitute Daniel Omosebi was deemed to have felled Jack Yates. Simpson stepped up and confidently despatched into the top corner to reduce the arrears.
Garforth responded by setting out in search of a fifth. Jamie Barkway came close when his header from Ejupi's corner kick went just over the bar. Barker was denied by Quibell when supplied by Dexter Ball, then deep into injury time there was almost a first goal of the season for Sam Denton when the substitute was likewise shut out by Quibell from Barkway's delivery to the far post.
A comfortable win for Garforth who were not quite at Tuesday's performance levels, but had the bit of luck and finishing that had deserted us back then. We remain in fifth place, and our chances of finishing there or above were improved after Hallam suffered a shock defeat to basement side Yorkshire Amateur. We play at the Bannister Prentice Stadium for the final time this season on Tuesday, when strugglers Goole are the visitors (kick-off 7:45pm).
