A Spartans side looking confident of beating the drop had the better of the first half with Town on top after the break, but neither could find the finish. Lucas Taylor's effort was deflected wide when he got on the end of Charlie Wood's delivery to the far post on 15 mins, before danger man Jack Foalle raced clear on the half-hour mark but was denied by Harry Flatters.
The Miners were at least improved on Monday's disjointed display against Pontefract Collieries, with the return of Jamie Barkway allowing Harry Colville to move back to a more familiar fullback position. His cross on 31 mins found Owen Marshall who's curling effort was saved by Blyth keeper Callum Dobson. Another Town chance moments later came to Marshall again; his half volley just wide when set up by Max Tweddle. Cousin Charlie was then in with a chance after a one-two with Tweddle, Dobson keeping out his low shot at the near post.
Three minutes before the break Paul Van Zandvliet put a low strike just wide for the hosts after The Miners gave away possession.
On 47 mins Charlie Marshall saw his curling shot saved when played in by Rinor Ejupi, then a break forward shortly after ended in Dobson parrying Owen Marshall's effort, but with nobody in yellow to capitalise. A well-worked move through the middle then saw Ejupi fire narrowly wide of the far post. Town continued to create chances with Ejupi denied by good defending on the edge of the box when played through by Luke Aldrich, then the same man headed just over the bar Tweddle's corner kick.
Despite this, we could well have conceded ten minutes from time as it increasingly looked like one goal would be enough to win it. Flatters produced an excellent save to keep out Zach Simpson's fizzing strike from finding the top corner. On 84 mins sub Mutty Al-Jahadhmy broke forward and supplied Ejupi who forced a save from Dobson at the near post. Moments later Dobson denied Ejupi again after he recieved the ball from Colville and cutting inside.
A first ever point against our hosts whom we've never scored against, and one away from home to hopefully arrest the recent slide in results. The end of the 2025-26 season is almost upon us, as we play our final home game next Saturday against neighbours Silsden (kick-off 3pm).
